How do You Define Love?

Love is simple but complex word that conveys a different meaning from person to person. Ask 10 different people and you will get 10 different responses. Even for those of us who will get deep and define love as "God" according 1 John 4:7,8 the love of God is still defined and understood in different ways. Some feel that God loves them most when things are well with them. Still there are some in the world who have concluded that God NO LONGER loves them because of the difficulties they are experiencing in life.

Some define love by actions - what someone does for you defines how much they love you. While still others feel that love is expressed by intangible commitment and faithfulness. The problem intensifies when there are people who are in a relationship based on "love" but possess different definitions of love.

A parent who defines love as "discipline" and a child who defines love as "trust" could present significant challenges.

As well as a husband who defines love as "provision" and a wife who defines Love as "respect" can lead to definite frustrations.

I believe that LOVE is misunderstood, and underappreciated. And if we could ever know LOVE we would love LOVE even more. And be able to give and convey LOVE properly! But its hard to express that which you have not truly experienced.
